Straddling the Penfeld, it was for many years the largest lift bridge in Europe, and each pylon is 70m high. Starting from the bottom of Rue de Siam, it spans the Penfeld to the north of the castle, leading to the working-class Recouvrance district. Since 2016, an urban cable-car whisks people from one side to the other in 3mins, commanding handsome views of the harbour and town on the way.
