The Pey-Berland district is one of the city's main cultural centres, home to three of Bordeaux's four major museums. It is also the administrative and judicial centre of the city, with the town hall, the regional court and the neoclassical former Thiac courthouse. In the shadow of St-André's cathedral, a Gothic jewel, lies Place Pey-Berland, a vast expanse of granite that is a favourite with skateboarders.
