Avérole valley boasts several unspoilt villages (La Goula, Vincendières, Avérole), characteristic of the Upper Maurienne. Avérole refuge enjoys a lovely high-mountain landscape (2,210m/7,251ft), the highlight of which is the Bessanese (alt. 3,597m/11,800ft). Numerous surrounding glaciers feed torrential streams.
