Around Chur (or Coire), the historical capital of the canton of Graubünden (or Grisons), you can easily head up in a cable car to the rocky summit of Parpaner Rothorn (alt. 2 861m). From there, the view to the west takes in the basin of Valbella, and to the east the snow-capped peaks of Weisshorn, Tschirpen and Aroser Rothorn. For a clearer view, climb on foot to one of the nearby summits such as Ostgipfel (alt. 2 899m; a 15min round trip).
