The dockside area is a bridge between the city of Antwerp and the port, the oldest part of which it occupies. While the quays are promised a vast urban programme initiated by the arrival of MAS (Museum aan de Stroom, Museum by the River), social housing and luxury flats are being built and the port buildings being turned into offices, restaurants and exhibition spaces. This regenerated area is finally bringing life back to the north of the city centre.
