It is worth taking the time to wander around the old town, which flourished from the 15C onwards, thanks to the saffron and, above all, woad trade. During this prosperous period, Albi built a number of private mansions, often characteristic of the Renaissance period, with their loggias, mullioned windows and round or square towers, which you will find all along the promenade.
