Big Sur is a region facing the Pacific Ocean, crossed by Highway 1: from Carmel in the north to San Simeon in the south, the Saint Lucia mountains tumble into the sea, creating magnificent coastal landscapes. The coast is even more captivating in autumn, when the Indian summer adorns it with flamboyant colours, or during the fine winter days, when the low-angled light gilds the rocks and the whales pass offshore.
