Non-touristy and authentically Hawaiian: that's Molokai! This long island was once the province of kahuna (priests) whose religious practices might have included human sacrifice. In more recent years, the island was a sleepy community of ranches and pineapple plantations. Nowadays tourism has become an economic necessity, but it's extremely low-key. Here there's not much in the way of boutiques or nightclubs. This island is all about wide-open spaces, where mountains meet ocean.
