At the heart of the Gulf of Tomini lies a volcanic archipelago surrounded by coral reefs. Lined with a thick blanket of tropical forest, hundreds of islands and islets emerge from the crystal-clear waters, a subtle gradation of blues and greens. Populated by rare species - some of them endemic - this inextricable jungle is home to the Togian macaque, babiroussa, couscous, hornbill and thousands of other birds. Impressive black monitor lizards (komodo) sometimes venture close to the houses, in search of some chicken... Less terrifying, the amusing coconut crabs like to come out in the evening.
