Palaeontology sites around Neuquén
La Guía Verde
La opinión de la Guía Michelin
In Patagonia, the area around Neuquén is famous for its paleontological sites, especially the shores of Lake Exequiel Ramos Mexía, where dinosaur footprints can be seen. Two museums exhibit the original fossils of these dinosaurs that inhabited the region 90 million years ago. The Museo Ernesto Bachmann, in Villa El Chocón, and the Museo Carmen Funes, in Plaza Huincul, are in possession of the skeletons of the largest known carnivorous and the largest herbivorous dinosaur, respectively.
