This valley, situated on the upper reaches of the Flamicell river, is surrounded by high peaks (Subenuix, Montsent de Pallars). It is home to a number of charming villages, each with its own small Romanesque church: La Torre de Cabdella, Espui and Cabdella. At the very top of the valley, surrounded by a beautiful, typically Pyrenean landscape, lies one of the region's most important lake complexes, whose main attraction is the Gento estany, in the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park.
