Strange fumes give an unreal aspect to this wild landscape. These are the fumaroles coming out of the sulphur pits; the smell is unmistakable. It's hot. The sulphur crystallises into pretty, bright yellow flowers. In some places, the colour red dominates, permeating the earth and rocks. There's a path that takes you close to this strange landscape.
