Lying 30km southwest of Tokunoshima Island and 30km north of Yoron Island, Okinoerabu Island is home to a spectacular network of underground limestone caves, vast sugar cane plantations and a coastline with beautiful sheltered beaches and small coves. Its airport is located at the northernmost point, with daily flights operated by the airline JAL connecting it to Yoron in 15min and Amami-Ōshima in 35min. Ferries run between the port of Wadomari on the east coast and Yoron in 1hr 10min, Tokunoshima in 1hr 50min and Amami-Ōshima in 6hr.
